Mark 14:3-9

From the blog post about this work: "This Holy Week painting focuses on the worshipful act of Mary in pouring her treasure on Jesus. I am especially moved by the idea of Mary offering such a valuable gift, and breaking the alabaster jar containing the perfume. It always kind of tugs at my heart to think of her devotion and worship. As I worked on how to express this concept, many factors played into my choices. The colors, purple and gold, are complements, and remind me of royalty and Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem just a week before He was crucified. There are hints of red, which speak to me of His death on the cross. I used gold leaf (though it is very difficult to see) which represents the enormous value of her gift." Click here to read more.
